Yesterday at the International Motorcycle Show in Long Beach, CA,
KTM Racing announced an age-restricted “RC Cup” series to run at select rounds of
the newly formed MotoAmerica series. The RC Cup series will feature race-prepped
versions of KTM’s new RC390, which is due to arrive in US dealerships in early 2015.
The road-going RC390 will carry an $5,499 MSRP. The street-going RC390 will be
$5500. No word yet on Cup-bike pricing.
Bike Is powered by a 375 cc DOHC single which makes 44 horsepower at 9,500 rpm and 26 foot-pounds of torque at 7,250 rpm. The bike has a trellis frame and get WP suspension and Brembo brakes, ABS, and lightweight wheels. The 390s aren't a direct comparison to the Honda, Kawasaki and Yamaha offerings in the suddenly hot 300 cc class, because of the KTM's higher level of spec and higher price. But I expect the KTM will be an absolute blast to ride.
